RECOGNITION OF ACHIEVEMENT
Sedaven Primary School, like so many other schools of worth, have many years ago recognized the educational and motivational value of honouring learner achievement by giving public recognition for it.
This recognition is, for some achievements, given during the course of the year and for others, at the occasion of the annual prizgiving function towards the end of the school year.
Some of the outstanding achievements that are recognized during the prizegiving are:
-
DUX AWARD - for all round performance and achievement in many areas
-
TOP TEN - for academic achievement

Awarding of merit certificates during the year
As of 2013 merit certificates will be awarded every second chapel period during the year.
It is believed that the motivational value of merit certificates are greater when achievement is publiclly recognized closer to the achievement. The prizegiving event at the end of the year will then focus on other significant learner achievements rather than on the merit certificates.
The following statement, printed on each merit certificate, explains to parents, family and other interested parties what the school's motivation is for awarding these special certificates:
Merit awards are an integral part of our character building programme. Recognition is given to one child in each class, whose behaviour or academic performance deserve special praise. This award is presented at a bi-weekly assembly.
At Sedaven Primary it is considered a great honour to receive this award.
